Inherit the Wind
November 11 - 14, 2021
Witness one of the great courtroom dramas of the 20th century in this staged reading of the timeless classic, Inherit the Wind. A fictional account of the 1925 “Scopes Monkey Trial,” Inherit the Wind surreptitiously prosecuted the threat to intellectual freedom brought on by the anti-communist hysteria of the McCarthy era. It’s a rollercoaster ride of rhetoric as Royal Palm Players’ Jim Grant and Hal McCombs lock horns in the leading roles. Boots Tolsdorf is a testament to snark as the witty and erudite E.K. Hornbeck.
Directed by Meryl Schaffer, this performance features a spectacular cast of Boca favorites, including an ensemble of “townspeople” bringing the local color. Inherit the Wind also introduces newcomers Jerry Edgerton and Kathy James to the RPP stage.
To protect the well being of the cast, crew and audience, Inherit the Wind has been moved outside under the Sunshade. Chairs will be arranged “theatre style” in rows. We anticipate all other shows to be held in the Auditorium.
